Event/Wedding Lighting Kit
Zhiyun G60 Molus Bi-Color COB Light
What’s it for? Light your reception, specifically your dance floor where your participants will be doing all the activities from dancing, cutting the cake, and of course the toasts and speeches.
Why get it? This is one of the smallest form factors you can get with a 60 watt COB light. This is easily travel friendly. Consider getting the regular
Alternatives? Zhiyun Molus G200 - Similarly compact form factor for a COB light but has nearly three times the amount of output of the G60, but will cost more.
Neewer Air Cushioned Light Stand
What’s it for? Light stand for your Zhiyun light, or any light that extends up to 9 feet, allowing you to light up your subjects on the dance floor and get a more natural lighting situation. This can be kept by the walls or edges of the dancefloor.
Be sure to pair with a sandbag or gaff tape to prevent tripping from the guests.
Why get it?
I like this one in particular because it’s air cushioned, so if you accidentally loosen the knobs, your fingers will be safe from being clipped. I also recommend a black stand to prevent any unwanted reflections over a silver one.
Alternatives? Any 7-9 foot light stand.
Extension Cable (25ft)
What’s it for? The included power cord from the light may only be long enough to cover the vertical height of your light. Unless you have an alternative power solution, you may want to use an extension cable. Just make sure to secure these so guests don’t trip over.
Why get it? If you don’t want to use a V-Mount battery with a V-Mount clamp, this will be your better option.
Alternatives? Any extension cord will do. Perhaps you’d like to get a traditional orange one that is more visible.
Godox Light Stand Case
What’s it for? Save your back and roll your gear. Put all your stands and tripods in here. I will usually pack my tripods in their respective soft carrying cases and place them inside with the two Neewer Light Stands. I use a Neewer version of this bag.
Why get it? Any brand will do, and 2-3 tripods and 2 light stands should be enough. Throw in your extension cords as well and save room in your other bags. You may also be able to throw in your small lights in here too to prevent any extra bumping around in the case.
Alternatives? Neewer Light Stand Case
Came-TV V-Mount Clamp
What’s it for? As an alternative means for power supply for your battery. This allows you to use a V-Mount battery to power your light and hold it in place when using a light stand. This way you don’t have to use an extension cable.
Why get it? Pair this up with a Dtap to DC cable for your V-Mount battery and you’ve got a good power solution without risking tripping any of the event’s guests.
Alternative? With one search on any of your favorite camera gear retailer website, you’ll be able to find different clamps, but I can’t recommend any specific ones.
Kondor Blue DTAP to DC Cable
What’s it for? Enables you to use your V-Mount battery to power any device accepting a DC cable.
Why get it? A reputable brand for filmmaking gear that braid their cords for extra strength for your run and gun filmmaking.
Alternative? I’ve used cables like this from the brand “Alvin” and most of them but one cable has failed on me.
